Following Volkswagen and PSA Peugeot-Citroen announcing new CEOs, Fiat has announced that CEo Sergio Marchionne is stepping down as the head of the company’s auto unit in 2007. Marchionne will remain as head of the overall Fiat group, which includes Ferrari, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Lancia and Iveco trucks.

Italy’s Fiat said today that its automotive division, Fiat Auto, had signed a memorandum of understanding with Chinese carmaker Chery Automobile, to have the Chinese company supply 1.6L and 1.8L gasoline engines for car made in China and outside the country.
