Due to aluminum prices doubling in the last four years, Fuji Heavy Industries, maker of Subaru automobiles, said it will discontinue the use of aluminum body panels on its Impreza, Legacy and Forester. Subaru is considering an expansion of its STI model range, according to Tomohiro Ishitobi, Subaru vice president of product planning. According to AutoWeek, Subaru is considering STI versions of both its Forester and Legacy models.
“We are discussing it internally,” confirmed Ishitobi, during an interview at the SEMA show. “We feel the market is ready.”
