According to sources, Mitsubishi will introduce a double-clutch gearbox on the next-generation Lancer Evo X. Scheduled to debut in 2007, the Evo X should make Mitsubishi the first automaker to produce a challenger to VW’s DSG transmission. BMW and Porsche are also working on double-clutch gearboxes.

Mitsubishi will launch the all-new 2008 Lancer in the United States before any other market — even the automaker’s homeland of Japan, according to Edmunds Inside Line.
