Confirming yesterday’s rumors, Ford today unveiled the 2008 Mercury Sable at the Chicago Auto Show. Following the Ford brand’s move to bring back the Taurus name, Mercury is replacing the Montego with a restyled model carrying the more popular Sable nameplate.

As reported yesterday, Ford is official dropping the Five Hundred, Freestyle and Mercury Montego names when the refreshed 2008 models arrive this summer. Ford’s restyled 2008 Escape and 2008 Mercury Mariner will be priced lower than the 2007 models and also have higher residual values.
