Yesterday we showed you a spy shot of the third generation Mazda2. Today Mazda announced that it will stage the world premiere of the all-new Mazda2 (known as the Mazda Demio) at the Geneva International Motor Show in March. Mazda today announced that it built the 800,000th unit of its Roadster on January 30, 2007. The Roadster is known as the MX-5 Miata in North America and the MX-5 in Europe. Mazda began production of the Roadster in April 1989.

For 2006, Pontiac’s Solstice roadster outsold Mazda’s MX-5 Miata to take the title of America’s most popular roadster. While Pontiac sold 19,710 Solstice roasters in 2006, Mazda only delivered 16,897 MX-5s, but that was up 72.4 percent from the previous year.

Mazda North American Operations announced that its January 2007 U.S. sales were the automaker’s best since 1994. With sales of 19,265 vehicles, Mazda sales were up 6.0 percent versus last year.
