DaimlerChrysler reports $7.3 billion operating profit

DaimlerChrysler today published its preliminary financial results for 2006. Despite a significant decline in earnings at the Chrysler Group, DCX recorded an operating profit of $7.28 billion in 2006, in comparision to $6.843 million in 2005. Chrysler Group to cut 13,000 jobs, close Delaware plant

DaimlerChrysler will pay $1.2 million in civil penalties to settle allegations that its Mercedes division failed to notify the EPA about faulty air pollution controls in vehicles.
