BMW Group reported its January U.S. sales were down 1.8 percent from the same month in 2006.

Despite a 1.7 percent sales decline based on daily sales rates, American Honda posted its best-ever January sales of 100,790, surpassing its previous record set last year. American Honda’s January light truck sales hit a record high of 47,378, up 11.0 percent compared to 2006.

Nissan North America announced its January U.S. sales were up 4.5 percent from last year. Nissan Division sales were up by 4.3 percent over last year led by strong sales of the new 2007 Altima (up 39.7 percent from last year).

Ford Motor Co.’s January U.S. sales dropped by 19 percent compared to the same period last year. This year’s drop is largely the result of a planned reduction in sales to daily rental companies. Ford’s sales to daily rental companies were cut by 65 percent. Ford’s retail sales in January were down 5 percent.

Ford Motor Co. announced today that it expects its January U.S. sales will likely fall 20 percent due to reductions in sales to fleets. George Pipas, Ford’s sales analyst, told reporters that fleet sales would fall 40 percent in January, led by a 60 percent drop in sales to car rental agencies.

Audi reported sales of 9,209 vehicles for November 2006, up 16.4 percent from the same period in 2005, which is the best November in the company’s history. For the year-to-date, Audi sales are up 5.4 percent over 2005.

Volkswagen announced November 2006 sales were down 5.3 percent compared to last November. For the year-to-date, VW sales are up 8.6 percent.
