Audi is tired of playing second fiddle to other luxury brands, including Lexus and its German competition, and is looking to expand U.S. sales. The German automaker has a three-pronged plan to boost sales, including increasing its vehicle offerings, more exclusive dealers and be more aggressive in promoting its brand image.

Volkswagen announced that Kerri Martin, Volkswagen of America’s director of brand innovation, resigned from the automaker’s American arm on Wednesday, Jan. 10.
Martin is credited with edgy advertising such as the “Fast” and “Safety Happens” campaigns that have each generated their share criticism and controversy.
A VW spokesman said Martin was not forced out of the company.
