New York Preview: Infiniti G37 Coupe confirmed

As we previously reported, Infiniti will unveil its next-generation G coupe at the 2007 New York Auto Show in April. Now, the New York Auto Show has revealed that the Infiniti G coupe will be called the ‘G37,’ which based on the brand’s naming scheme indicates that the coupe will be be powered by a 3.7L version of Nissan’s VQ series engines.
The new 3.7L V6 will likely deliver power in the 325-hp to 330-hp range, which gives the G37 enough power to go head-to-head with BMW’s 335i with its twin-turbo 3.0L straight-six. There are also rumors of a new high-end turbo model of the G coupe, which would feature the GT-R’s AWD drivetrain. If true, this model could go a long way to addressing dealer disappointment that the GT-R would be sold as a Nissan in the U.S. According to reports, the decision incensed many Infiniti dealers, who “desperately wanted the GT-R as a halo for the brand.”
Infiniti will also unveil its ‘Infiniti EX’ crossover concept in New York, featuring “coupe-like” styling.
