Volkswagen has revealed the Jetta Wagon (called the Golf Variant in Europe, and the name it will debut as) ahead of its debut at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show next week. The third generation of the Jetta Wagon took two years longer than the sedan, mostly because it was not part of VW plans at launch. However, due to pressure from its dealers and customers, VW caved in, and finally decided to produce a wagon.

The Golf Variant will feature two gas and a two diesel engines. The gas engines include a 1.6L four-cylinder with 102-hp and the 1.4L 140-hp “Twincharger” TFSI. The Variants two diesel engines include a 1.9L TDI with 105-hp and a 2.0L TDI with 140-hp. The diesels are some of most economical and lowest emission engines around with mileage rates of just 5.2L/100km and 5.6L/100km, and CO2 emissions of 137g/km and 148 g/km respectively.

The Golf Variant’s uniquely styled rear features new taillamps that are integrated into the fenders and wrap around the sides of the car.

There is no official word on a U.S. release, but the Jetta Wagon is expected to debut at the New York Auto Show in April.
