Spy Shots: Porsche Panamera in South Africa
February 23, 2007 4:05PM by Michael Savio
An amateur spy photographer caught a trio of Porsche Panamera prototypes during testing South Africa. Porsche’s new four-door coupe isn’t scheduled to make its world premiere until the Geneva Motor Show in 2009, but the German sports car maker continues to test the new model before its debut.
As we have reported several times before, the Panamera will go head-to-head with the Aston Martin Rapide and Mercedes CLS four-door coupes, and is certain to be powered by V6 and V8 powerplants, but is also rumored to feature the Carrera GT’s V10 in the top-of-the-line model. All engines will likely be offered with both manual and dual-clutch gearboxes.
Porsche plans to build 20,000 units a year at its Leipzig, Germany plant beginning in 2009.
