On the Nissan Skyline GT-R’s journey from New Mexico to California and then up the Pacific Coast, we missed seeing the car in Arizona, well not anymore. “BadgerMike” saw the prototype of the Nissan GT-R in Holbrook, AZ and started snapping.

While the engineers with the car may have not been too happy to have him around snapping pictures, they talked to Mike, when he asked about performance. Their answer should come as no surprise, the benchmark car was following the GT-R everywhere it went, but they replied “911 Turbo”.

Nissan will stage the world premiere of the Skyline GT-R at the 2007 Tokyo Auto Show this fall.

This will be my car. Oh yes you will be mine.

The 911 Turbo was not present when I took these photos. They said that they had been testing on their test track outside of Phoenix earlier in the day. It does have a paddle shifter, they were very quick to throw a jacket over the rear window, and put a sheet over the dash when I looked into the car. They were very friendly once I put away my camera. I asked about the horsepower, “400?” they smiled and looked away, “500?” they replied “Closer”, and smiled again. When pressed further, they said that they could not tell me. It is AWD, and has HUGE Brembos. The center support on the spoiler is carbon fiber. This car is right hand drive.

They also would not say if the car was to be a 2008 or 2009 model.
