Spy Shots: Lotus Esprit on the road
February 23, 2007 9:21PM by Michael Savio
While Lotus denies that this is a prototype of the forthcoming Esprit, spy photographers and sources confirm that is Lotus’ flagship supercar. Esprit prototypes have begun popping up more frequently, and now we see it on the road.
The Esprit is expected to be powered by a BMW supplied V8 engine — either 4.4L or 4.8L — delivering around 370-hp. With Lotus’ history of light-weight construction, the Esprit could weight under 2700 lbs. Despite being down more than 100-hp, with its light weight, the Esprit will be a formidable challenger for the F430 and Gallardo.
