Volkswagen, Europe’s largest automaker, has become the latest to say it is not interested in acquiring DaimlerChrysler’s Chrysler Group.

“There are no such considerations at the moment,” said a Volkswagen spokesman when asked whether the company was looking at acquiring Chrysler.

Since DaimlerChrysler announced that it was considering all options for the Chrysler Group, Nissan-Renault, Fiat and Hyundai have all said they are not interested in Chrysler. While many automaker’s are ruling themselves out, only General Motors is known to be having talks with DaimlerChrysler. Most analysts say aquiring Chrysler would only add to GM’s problems, when it is in the midst of its own massive turnaround.

I can’t imagine anyone wanting to buy Chrysler. Maybe a Chinese company to get a foothold in the U.S. Or GM for the sole reason of staying number 1, but that would be a stupid move long term.

DCX is going to have spin it off and hope it can turn itself around.
