Spy Shots: Mercedes GLK
February 22, 2007 11:49PM by Michael Savio
Spy photographers caught prototypes of the Mercedes GLK compact SUV during testing in Scandinavia. Joing the ML- and GL-Class SUV, the GLK-Class CUV will slot in below the midsize ML, and will compete with the BMW X3 and the forthcoming Audi Q5, Volvo XC60 and Volkswagen Tiguan. While still heavily disguised, the photos show the GLK will feature similar styling to the full-size GL-Class.
Based on the new C-Class platform, the GLK is designed — like its competitors — to be comfortable on the road, with just enough off-road ability, depending on the model. The GLK will likely be powered by the gas and diesel V6 engines from the new C-Class, but will do without the C-Class sedan’s four-cylinders.
