Volkswagen anticipates strong consumer demand for its recently unveiled R32 performance model, which debuted today at the Chicago Auto Show. The previous 2004 R32 sold out its entire United States allocation of 5,000 shortly after its debut, and VW is expecting similar demand for the new model. Volkswagen is targeting the new R32, also limited to 5,000 units, at R32 enthusiasts and GTI owners who are looking for “something more.”

Volkswagen has set up a reservation process for the R32. Current GTI and R32 owners will be notified of the opening of an R32 micro-site on www.vw.com. R32 prospects will be direct to a Volkswagen dealer. The first 832 people who place a deposit with an authorized Volkswagen dealer, will be eligible to purchase one of the first R32 vehicles delivered in August 2007.
