Today’s broken embargo: Scion xD and xB
February 7, 2007 8:34PM by Michael Savio
Well, it seems today’s broken embargo is brought to you by Car and Driver. C&D published images of Scion’s redesigned xB and all-new xD ahead of the car’s official debuts at the Chicago Auto Show.
The redesigned xB is larger the current model since it no longer shares its platform with the diminutive xA. While still a box, the new xB is a more streamlined box, with a more rounded front end, flared fenders, and a thick C pillar. The xB will get a stylish new interior, which dumps the center-mounted gauges. Power for the xB will come from the same 158-hp 2.4L four-cylinder found in the tC, which is mated to either a five-speed manual or four-seed automatic.
Scion will also unveil its all-new xD, replacing the xA. The xD shares a platform with the Toyota Yaris, but will be powered by the 128-hp, 1.8L four-cylinder found in the Corolla. The engine is mated to either a five-speed manual or four-seed automatic, just the xB. The xD shares several of the same cues seen on the xB — albeit in a more rounded form — including the thick C pillar.
