Another auto show, another set of broken embargos. This time it was Road & Track magazine’s web site that spilled the goods on Pontiac’s G8. The rear-wheel drive 2008 G8 will replace the aging front-wheel drive Grand Prix.
The base Pontiac G8 will offer a 3.6L V6 engine with 261-hp and 250 lb-ft. of torque. The G8 GT with feature a 6.0L LS2 powered GT version with 362-hp and 391 lb-ft. of torque. The base car will offer a five-speed automatic with a manual model, with the GT will be offered with either a six-speed automatic or six-speed manual gearbox.
The new G8 is expected to be available in dealer showrooms in August.
