Following the news that Ford will rename the slow-selling Five Hundred sedan the Taurus, it looks like Mercury is going to bring back one of its names from the past. The restyled 2008 Mercury Montego (current model shown), which will debut tomorrow at the Chicago Auto Show, may not wear a Montego badge, but could be called the Mercury Sable.

Mark Fields is expected to officially announce at the Chicago Auto Show tomorrow that the Taurus and Sable will return this summer.

The Chicago Tribune is also reporting that the restyled Ford Freestyle may be up for a name change as well, and might include an “X” to denote it’s a crossover.
