As we posted yesterday, Subaru will unveil its new 2008 Impreza at the New York Auto Show in April. The next Impreza will feature a five-door hatchback body shape inspired by the B5-TPH concept, but gladly will not include the propeller-grille front end that has recently been banished from Subaru’s design DNA.

According to Brenda Priddy and Co., Subaru may drop the Impreza name, but they doubt the rumors that Subaru will drop the WRX model (seen in the shot).

Subaru is expected to give its turbocharged 2.5L boxer a major upgrade, with power bumping up to around 330-hp — likely the STi number.

We’re eagerly waiting for official news in New York.
