Updated Gallardo to feature improvements developed for Audi R8

After Lamborghini’s help with the development of the Audi R8, Lamborghini looks set to raid the R8’s part bin and benefit from the developments for the R8. The head of development at Audi, Ulrich Hackenberg, has said that the Gallardo will receive the R8’s rear suspension and several other components as part of a mid-cycle facelift planned for 2008.
The new rear suspension on the R8 was developed from the Gallardo’s double-wishbone setup, but added a trailing link to maintain more control in cornering. However, the Gallardo will get unique bushings and tighter anti-roll bar to suit the Gallardo’s more sporting nature.
The Gallardo is rumored to feature an upgraded 5.0L V10, with a new direct injection system from Audi — already in use on the R8’s 4.2L V8 — to bump horsepower from the current 520-hp to around 550-hp.
