Spy Shots: Ford Fairlane test mule
January 28, 2007 5:32PM by Michael Savio
Ford has begun testing more complete development mules for the production version of the Ford Fairlane. Based on the Ford Freestyle, the mule features a new front-end from the A-pillars forward, including a squared-off hood and Ford’s three-bar grille.
As in the past mules, the Freestyle body has been lengthened by about 6 inches at the B-pillar and widened by 2 to 3 inches along the driver-side roof rail, which is exactly what is expected considering the Fairlane will be larger than the Freestyle.
We are waiting for spy shots of pre-production prototypes of the Fairlane to see if J. Mays’ statement that the concept and production versions will be all but indistinguishable from each other. However, we can already spot some differences.
