Ford kicks off assembly of Escape and Mercury Mariner

Ford Motor Co. kicked off production yesterday of its new 2008 Ford Escape and Mercury Mariner at its Kansas City Assembly Plant. Ford’s smallest crossovers go on sale first quarter 2007.
Ford has said the Escape and Mercury Mariner offer consumers a better value than the outgoing model, with improved resale value, reduced pricing, added standard content and better fuel economy.
The 2008 Escape has a base price that averages $1,100 less than 2007 models. The 2008 Mariner will have a base price that average $1,300 less than the 2007 model. Both vehicles are available in gas-powered engine and full-hybrid models.
