Toyota’s Jim Press, 2007 Auto Industry Executive of the Year
January 25, 2007 9:38AM by Michael Savio
Jim Press, president of Toyota Motor North America, Inc., has been announced as the recipient of the 2007 Automotive Industry Executive of the Year award. This is the first time in the award’s 43-year history that a Toyota executive has received the honor.
The Automotive Industry Executive of the Year recognizes excellence in automotive leadership, with past winners, including Bill Ford, Jr. (last year’s winner), Dieter Zetsche, Rick Wagoner, Henry Ford II, Robert Eaton, Thomas Stallkamp, Roger Smith, Harold E. Poling, Lee Iacocca and John DeLorean.
Press (shown at the unveiling of the Tundra CrewMax) is the first non-Japanese president of TMA and has done an excellent job leading Toyota’s success in a challenging market. 2006 was a challenging year for Toyota, with several high profile recalls, and 2007 isn’t starting out any better. Can Press keep Toyota on the right track?
