VW Jetta to be offered with BLUETEC TDI in 2008

Volkswagen has confirmed that the Jetta sedan will its first vehicle to be offered with a BLUETEC-branded TDI diesel engine beginning in 2008. The Jetta will be powered by VW’s cleanest turbodiesel ever with a 2.0L common-rail diesel, featuring an oxygen after-treatment system and a diesel particulate filter. The engine will meet 50-state diesel emission requirements.
Volkswagen announced it would join in a BLUETEC alliance with DaimlerChrysler, but while the automakers will both market cars with the BLUETEC name, they will use different technologies.
The BLUETEC TDI diesel-powered Jetta is not expected to be available until Spring 2008.
