BMW continues the heavy testing of its M3, and spy photographers caught a nearly undisguised cabrio model during cold weather testing, which give us the chance to show the car one more time.

Like its more sedate 3-Series convertible breathren, the M3 Cabrio has traded its softtop for a folding metal hardtop. The M3 gets wider fenders, a new front fascia with bigger air intakes and a new rear fascia with the traditional M quad exhaust tips. Under the fake power dome sits a 400+ hp 4.0L V8 derived from the M5/M6’s V10. The engine will be mated to BMW’s SMG sequential transmission, with a dual-clutch transmission to arrive later.

The BMW M3 Coupe is scheduled for its official debut at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show in September. The M3 Cabrio is expected to arrive in 2008.
