VW vans unlikely to get Swivel ‘n Go

When Volkswagen releases its new Chrysler-engineered minivan in 2008, don’t expect to see the new Swivel ‘n Go found in the Chrysler models. Chrysler will likely keep both its Stow ‘n Go and Swivel ‘n Go features as differentiators for its vans.
When speaking about Swivel ‘n Go, Frank Klegon, executive vice president of product development for Chrysler, said “I think you will see that it remains exclusive to us.” While the final decision hasn’t been made on Stow ‘n Go, he suspects “that those are unique things to us.”
Chrysler’s new Swivel ‘n Go system features swiveling seats that turn 180 degrees to face the third row. A table can be placed between the second and third rows.
VW’s new seven-seat minivan will be based on the restyled, re-engineered 2008 Chrysler Town & Country and Dodge Grand Caravan. The VW minivan will have a unique exterior, with the only the roof being shared. Chrysler will begin assembling the VW minivan in the second half of 2008.
