Kia plans to launch a new crossover vehicle based on the Soul concept car that it revealed at the 2006 Detroit Auto Show. Kia Motors will announce plans later today that the Soul crossover vehicle will arrive in 2008 as a 2009 model. The U.S. will be the crossover’s primary market, and it will be aimed at the youthful market.

The Soul concept was a small five-seat crossover that was powered by a 2.0L four-cylinder engine mated to a five-speed auto powering the front wheels. The Soul concept sits on a 100-inch wheelbase, is 159 inches long, 64 inches tall and 72.8 inches wide.
