Earlier today, we posted that Ford is considering sedan and wagon variants of its next Mustang, and that the next Mustang would based on the new platform beginning developed by Ford Australia for the next-generation Ford Falcon.
However, Ford Australia has said that these reports are false, according to Drive.com.au.
Ford Australia hasn’t “been asked” and will not be designing the next Mustang, said Sinead McAlary. McAlary also said there are no plans to sell the Mustang in Australia.
When it comes to the Lincoln rear-wheel drive concept appearing at next month’s Detroit Auto Show will not be based on the Aussie platform. “Yes, there will be a Lincoln at the show, but it will be built on a Mustang platform, not ours,” she said.
