Project Kimber, the British-based consortium planning to revive the discontinued Smart Roadster using the AC name, has released the first sketch of the roadster. Instead of simply rebadging the smart Roadsters and Coupes as ACs, the company has decided to reskin the smart Roadster.

Project Kimber acquired the rights to the smart Roadster and Coupe from DaimlerChrysler in February. The company plans to launch a new range of AC branded sports cars based on the smart architecture.

The new rendering features plenty of retro styling cues, but also includes many new touches, including the Lamborghini-style scissor doors.

The final AC Roadster and Coupe are expected to be unveiled some time next year, ahead of the start of production late next year.
