Despite expectations, Ford will not debut the production version of the Ford Fairlane people mover at the 2007 North American International Auto Show in early January. Many sources, including the The Detroit Free Press, the Detroit Auto Dealers Association, and Bob Thibodeau, a local Detroit Ford dealer and senior cochairman of NAIAS, had the production Fairlane’s official unvieling on the list for Detroit.

Ford said it never planned to unveil the vehicle in Detroit. Officially, Ford says that the Detroit Auto Show doesn’t correspond with the vehicle’s manufacturing schedule. But now the word is that the production version of the Fairlane will not be identical to the concept, despite what J Mays said. Reports are that the version shown at Ford’s Showroom of the Future event at Cobo Hall is less boxy than the concept Fairlane.
