Volkwagen posts lower sales in November

Volkswagen announced November 2006 sales were down 5.3 percent compared to last November. For the year-to-date, VW sales are up 8.6 percent.
Sales declines for Volkswagen were led by drops in Jetta and Passat sedans and Touareg SUV. GTI sales were off 2.4 percent from last year — but last year’s number also counted Golf sales. For the year, GTI has sold 16,094 units, a 13.9 percent lift from 2005.

VOLKSWAGEN POSTS NOVEMBER 2006 SALES
Year-to-date increases posted by Jetta and Passat volume car lines
AUBURN HILLS, Mich. — Volkswagen of America, Inc. today announced November 2006 sales results of 17,082 units, which is down 5.3 percent in comparison to the November 2005 total of 18,046 passenger cars and sport utility vehicles. Year to date, the Volkswagen brand continues its value-driven momentum, posting increases in core Jetta and Passat car lines.
The safe and sporty Volkswagen Jetta sedan has sold 93,057 units in 2006, a notable 5.7 percent increase over 2005. The well-equipped and larger Passat, in sedan and wagon body styles, has posted a 2006 sales figure of 50,640, an impressive 18.9 percent increase.
The recently refreshed New Beetle coupe and the redesigned GTI continue to redefine their respective roles as iconic magnet and ‘driver’s car’ spirit for the marque. New Beetle sales for 2006 are up 12.6 percent, year to date. GTI has put 16,094 buyers in touch with their fast, a 13.9 percent lift from 2005, year to date.
