Spy Shots: 2008 Ford Focus interior

Spy photographers have again caught prototypes of the 2008 Ford Focus during testing, and for the first time we get to see the car’s interior. While we still have to wait for an all-new Focus, a C1-based Focus for the U.S. isn’t expected until 2010, at least the 2008 will get an extensively revised skin, and from the photos, an all-new vastly improved interior.
Previously, we reported that the 2008 Focus will get Ford’s corporate three-bar grille, but it turns out the Focus will only get two-bars. While the camo does a very good job at hiding what the car will really look like, the Fusion inspired grill is obvious. Out back, the Focus gets a higher tail — similar to the Fusion — and what looks to be Fusion-inspired taillamps. This restyling will likely bring improvements to NVH (one of the biggest Focus complaints), and we are hoping for a stiffer body and improvements to chassis tuning.
Inside, the dash is all-new, featuring a new instrument panel, center console (despite the cover) and new three spoke steering wheel, with both cruise control and redundant audio buttons. The interior sports a faux metal look, with more chrome trim. From what we can see, with high-quality materials, the interior looks to be a substantial improvement.

[…] Last month, we brought you the first spy shots of the interior of the restyled 2008 Ford Focus. At that time Ford engineers had a cover over the center console, so we couldn’t tell what was underneath. Now, we bring you an uncovered view into the interior of the 2008 Ford Focus. […]
