Video: Nissan Skyline GT-R spotted at the Ring

Earlier this month the first spy photos surfaced of the 2008 Nissan Skyline GT-R at the Nürburgring (and here), now we have a video of the GT-R turning some hot laps at the Ring. As expected, it sounds like the GT-R is powered by a version of Nissan’s famous VQ-series V6. While there wasn’t any telltale turbocharger whine, they would have to be there to get the performance the the GT-R would need to compete. This prototype sounds like the engine is not mated to a traditional manual transmission, but is instead mated to a paddle shifted transmission, perhaps a double clutch gearbox.
Based on the ever-present 2007 Porsche 911 Turbo following the GT-R in the footage, Nissan clearly has set some very high performance goals for the Skyline GT-R.
The Nissan Skyline GT-R is expected to debut at the 2007 Tokyo Motor Show, with sales in the U.S. starting in early 2008.
