Renault F1 announces ING as new title sponsor

As expected, the Renault F1 team has announced that the Dutch financial group ING will replace Mild Seven cigarettes as the teams title sponsor for the next three years. The F1 team will now be known as ING Renault Formula 1 Team. The team and will wear Mild Seven’s colors for the final time at the 2006 season’s final race in Brazilian Grand Prix. Mild Seven has been the title sponsorship of the Benetton and Renault F1 teams for 13 years.
“We are proud to introduce ING to the world of Formula One, and the unique opportunities it offers for global growth. ING is a brand that fits perfectly with the Renault F1 Team’s image,” said team principal Flavio Briatore.
Renault appears ready to send Mild Seven out the same way it started. Mild Seven entered the sport as winners, with world championship victory as Benetton’s title sponsor in 1994 and 1995. Following last year’s double championships with Renault, Mild Seven Renault is likely to win at least one of the two championships for the 2006 season.
