Earlier this year, we saw spy photos of a prototype for a Chevrolet HHR SS with its modified front bumper hiding a front mount intercooler. These new shots show that the production version of a high performance Chevy HHR SS is nearing completion. Caught at the Nürburgring, this prototype has a completely new front bumper, which features a deep front air dam, and a large opening to feed the intercooler. The grille is also revised, with a wide open mesh allowing more air to reach the radiator. This prototype HHR SS is wearing new running boards connecting the front and rear fenders and, as usual, a larger exhaust tip.

While it has not been confirmed, we expect the HHR SS to be powered by the same 2.0L direct-injected Ecotec Turbo developing 260-hp and 260 lbs.-ft. of torque, which is also used on the Pontiac Solstice GXP and Saturn Sky Redline.
