MG Motors said plans for bringing the brand back to the U.S. are on track for 2008. MG plans to have a network of about 300 dealers to sell the British sports car. While MG has not begun signing up dealers, it plans on focusing on larger American cities.

“Based upon our sales ambition and based on where we think our product line will be, we think we need to be looking at a dealer body that’s about 300, up to 350 dealers,” said Duke Hale, who heads MG Motors in a partnership with China’s Nanjing Automobile Corp.

MG plans include sales of a roadster and coupe by June 2008. MG could sell about 100,000 units annually by 2010, with a sedan in addition to the TF roadster and TF coupe.

MG plans include building its first cars at a plant in Longbridge, England. MG also plans to assemble a TF coupe in Oklahoma based on assembly kits manufactured by Nanjing in China and shipped to the plant.
