Chinese automaker Nanjing Automobile Group, which took over Britain’s MG after its collapse in 2005, announced that the reborn MG will have three production sites, including one in the U.S. Nanjing announced it plans to build a factory in Ardmore, Oklahoma to build the next-generation TF coupe. MG’s shuttered Longbridge plant in the U.K. will build the roadster version of the TF. And plants in China will build MG sedans.

Nanjing plans to build between 12,000 and 16,000 TFs per year at the Oklahoma plant, with 60 percent of the output for the United States and 40 percent for Europe.

Nanjing said it expects to begin construction of the Oklahoma plant in early 2007 and start production by the third quarter of 2008. The automaker will also set up a new research and development center at the University of Oklahoma.

The new MG cars will go on sale in the United States in early summer 2008.
