Spy Shots: Mercedes C-Class Estate
June 7, 2006 4:13PM by Michael Savio
Spy photographers caught a lightly disguised Estate version of Mercedes’ forthcoming C-Class out testing. This C-Class is sporting the least camouflage we’ve seen so far on an Estate.
The next-generation C-Class will many of its components with the larger E-Class but Mercedes is position the new C-Class as a true small sports saloon. The C-Class will be offered with a direct injection 1.8L 4-cylinder 1.8L, a 2.5L V6 and a 3.5L V6 with between 150-hp to 190-hp, 210-hp, and 270-hp respectively. An AMG C63 is expected to be powered by AMG’s new 6.2-liter naturally aspirated V8 cranking out 503-hp, which puts the C63 AMG ahead of both the BMW M3 and the Audi RS4 in the horsepower race.
We are expecting Mercedes to officially unveil the saloon at the 2007 Geneva Motor Show with sales to start shortly after, and the wagon to arrive about six months later in the autumn. Sources state a cabriolet and coupe are also in the works, which we assume will be the new CLK-Class.
